Applebee’s Oriental Chicken Salad Dressing

Applebee's Oriental Chicken Salad Dressing - recipe card

This creamy, tangy, and slightly sweet dressing is the perfect copycat of the iconic Applebee’s Oriental Chicken Salad dressing. It has a luscious, pourable texture with a bright sesame-ginger flavor that clings beautifully to greens and crispy chicken.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, rice vinegar, honey, soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, Dijon mustard, ground ginger, garlic powder, kosher salt, and black pepper. Whisk vigorously until the mixture is completely smooth and emulsified, about 1 minute.
  2. Taste the dressing and adjust seasonings to your preference, adding a pinch more salt or a drizzle of honey for balance. The dressing should be creamy, slightly tangy, and subtly sweet with a distinct sesame aroma.
  3. Transfer the dressing to a jar or airtight container. Use immediately or refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. When ready to serve, whisk or shake the dressing well before drizzling over a bed of greens, crispy chicken strips, and crunchy wonton strips, just like the restaurant version.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. The dressing will thicken slightly when chilled; thin with a teaspoon of water or rice vinegar if needed before serving. Stir well before each use. Do not freeze as the emulsion may separate.
