Chick-fil-A Polynesian Sauce

Chick-fil-A Polynesian Sauce - recipe card

This Polynesian sauce is a perfectly balanced sweet-and-tangy condiment with a luscious, thick texture. Tangy vinegar and mustard meet sweet barbecue flavors, creating a versatile sauce that pairs beautifully with chicken tenders, fries, or as a dipping sauce for veggies.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce (such as Sweet Baby Ray’s original)
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt (or to taste)

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients. Ensure honey and corn syrup are at room temperature so they blend easily with the other liquids, preventing clumping.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine 1/4 cup honey and 3 tablespoons light corn syrup. Whisk together until the two syrups are fully incorporated, about 30 seconds.
  3. Add 1/4 cup white vinegar to the bowl. Whisk again until the mixture is smooth and slightly frothy on top.
  4. Add 1/4 cup barbecue sauce and 1 tablespoon yellow mustard. Whisk vigorously for 1 to 2 minutes until the sauce is uniformly colored and no streaks of mustard remain.
  5. Sprinkle in 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon onion powder, and 1/8 teaspoon salt. Whisk for another 30 seconds to ensure the spices are evenly distributed and no lumps remain.
  6. Taste the sauce. If you prefer a thinner consistency, add 1 teaspoon of water at a time until desired thickness is reached. If you want more tang, add a splash of vinegar.
  7. Transfer the sauce to an airtight container or a squeeze bottle. For best flavor, refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
  8. Stir or shake the sauce well before serving, as separation may occur during chilling. Serve with chicken tenders, fries, or as a dipping sauce for vegetables.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. The sauce can be frozen in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. To thaw, place in the refrigerator overnight, then stir or shake well before serving. If you prefer a slightly thicker sauce, you can simmer it over low heat for 2 to 3 minutes, but this is optional.
