Chicken Pizza Sliders

These chicken pizza sliders combine tender shredded chicken, zesty pizza sauce, and gooey mozzarella cheese sandwiched between soft Hawaiian rolls, baked until golden and bubbly. Perfect for game day or a quick weeknight dinner.

  • 1 (12-ounce) package Hawaiian sweet rolls (8 rolls)
  • 2 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup mini pepperoni slices (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Lightly grease an 8×8-inch or 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Without separating the individual rolls, slice the entire block of Hawaiian rolls horizontally through the middle using a serrated knife. Place the bottom half of the rolls in the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the shredded chicken and pizza sauce. Stir until the chicken is evenly coated, ensuring every bite has balanced flavor.
  4. Spread the chicken mixture evenly over the bottom layer of rolls. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the chicken, then add the mini pepperoni if using.
  5. Place the top half of the rolls over the filling, pressing gently to secure.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Brush this mixture generously over the tops of the rolls, allowing it to seep into the crevices for added flavor and a golden crust.
  7. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until the cheese is fully melted and the tops are golden brown. If the tops are browning too quickly, tent loosely with foil for the last 5 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven and let rest for 3 to 5 minutes before slicing along the individual roll seams with a sharp knife. Serve warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a 350°F (177°C) oven for 10 minutes, or until heated through and the tops crisp again. Not recommended for freezing as the rolls may become soggy.
