McDonald’s M&M McFlurry Copycat

McDonald's M&M McFlurry Copycat - recipe card

This copycat recipe replicates the iconic McDonald’s M&M McFlurry using high-quality vanilla ice cream and crispy M&M’s candies. The result is a creamy, crunchy frozen treat with a vibrant candy-studded interior that rivals the drive-thru version.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (about 1 quart) premium vanilla ice cream, softened
  • 1/2 cup M&M’s milk chocolate candies, plus 2 tablespoons for topping
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Remove the vanilla ice cream from the freezer and let it sit at room temperature for 10 to 15 minutes until it is soft but not melted. You want a consistency similar to thick soft-serve so you can stir it without forcing – if it becomes too liquid, return it to the freezer for 5 minutes.
  2. Place the softened ice cream in a large mixing bowl. Add 1/2 cup of M&M’s and fold them in gently using a silicone spatula, scraping from the bottom and turning the mixture over until the candies are evenly distributed. Over-mixing can melt the ice cream, so work quickly and deliberately.
  3. Divide the mixture evenly among four 8-ounce serving cups or bowls. If using, drizzle each with 1/2 tablespoon of chocolate syrup and top with the reserved M&M’s.
  4. Serve immediately for a soft, creamy texture or place the cups in the freezer for 15 minutes to firm up the McFlurry to a more scoopable consistency. For the classic McDonald’s experience, enjoy with a spoon.

Notes

Storage: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 1 week. To re-soften, let the container sit at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes before serving, then stir to restore the creamy texture. Do not microwave. For a thicker, shake-like consistency, freeze for 30 minutes before serving.
