Copycat Wendy’s Frosty

Copycat Wendy's Frosty

A rich, creamy frozen chocolate treat that mimics the iconic fast-food frosty. This no-cook recipe uses chocolate milk, sweetened condensed milk, and whipped topping for a smooth, spoonable texture. Perfect for satisfying a sweet craving in under 5 minutes of active prep.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups whole chocolate milk, well chilled
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 container (8 oz) frozen whipped topping (e.g., Cool Whip), thawed in refrigerator

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the 2 cups chilled chocolate milk and the entire can of sweetened condensed milk. Whisk vigorously until fully blended and smooth; the mixture will thicken slightly as the condensed milk incorporates.
  2. Using a rubber spatula, gently fold the thawed whipped topping into the chocolate-milk mixture. Fold in a figure-eight motion, scraping the bottom and sides of the bowl, until no white streaks remain and the mixture is uniformly light and airy.
  3. Pour the mixture into a freezer-safe, shallow container (such as an 8×8-inch baking dish or a 1.5-quart freezer tray). The shallow shape allows for even freezing and easier scooping later.
  4. Cover the container with a tight-fitting lid or a layer of plastic wrap pressed directly onto the surface of the mixture to prevent ice crystals from forming.
  5. Place the container in the freezer for 1 hour. After 1 hour, remove and stir the mixture vigorously with a fork or whisk to break up any forming ice crystals and ensure a creamy texture.
  6. Return the container to the freezer and freeze for an additional 3 to 4 hours, or until the frosty is firm but still scoopable — it should have a soft-serve consistency, not rock-hard ice cream. Stir once more after 2 hours if desired for extra creaminess.
  7. If the frosty becomes too hard after longer storage, let it sit at room temperature for 10 to 15 minutes before scooping, or microwave on high for 10 to 15 seconds to soften slightly.
  8. Serve in cups or bowls with a spoon. For an authentic Wendy’s experience, pair with a handful of salty fries for dipping.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 months. To refresh texture after freezing, let thaw at room temperature for 10 minutes and stir vigorously. Do not refreeze after thawing completely — the texture will become icy. For a dairy-free version, use oat chocolate milk and coconut-based whipped topping, but note the texture will be slightly less creamy.
