Slim Chickens Slim’s Sauce

Slim Chickens Slim's Sauce - recipe card

This creamy, tangy, and slightly spicy sauce is a copycat of the beloved Slim Chickens condiment. With a base of mayonnaise and ketchup, balanced with horseradish and a hint of garlic, it’s perfect for dipping chicken tenders, drizzling over burgers, or as a zesty spread for sandwiches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish, drained
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, drained horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until the mixture is completely smooth and uniform in color, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  2. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning if necessary: add a pinch more cayenne for heat or a dash of salt to brighten the flavors. Keep in mind the sauce will meld and develop more flavor as it chills.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or transfer the sauce to an airtight container. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to blend and the sauce to thicken slightly.
  4. After chilling, stir the sauce once or twice to recombine any separated liquids. Serve as a dip for chicken tenders, fries, or use as a spread on sandwiches and wraps.
  5. For a thinner consistency, whisk in 1 to 2 teaspoons of water or buttermilk until the desired texture is reached. This is especially nice if you plan to drizzle the sauce over a salad or grain bowl.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. The sauce is best served cold; if it thickens too much, stir in a teaspoon of water or buttermilk. Freezing is not recommended as the mayonnaise will separate and change texture.
