Air Fryer Trader Joe Hashbrown

Air Fryer Trader Joe Hashbrown - recipe card

Crispy, golden-brown hash brown patties made effortlessly in the air fryer. Trader Joe’s frozen hash browns emerge perfectly crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside with minimal oil, making them an ideal quick breakfast side or snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 frozen Trader Joe’s hash brown patties (about 2 per serving)
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil or other high-smoke-point oil (for spraying)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 minutes. Preheating ensures the hash browns start sizzling immediately, creating a shatteringly crisp exterior.
  2. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with a small amount of oil to prevent sticking. Arrange the frozen hash brown patties in a single layer, ensuring they do not overlap; crowding leads to steaming instead of crisping.
  3. Spray the tops of the patties evenly with the avocado oil. The oil aids browning and helps achieve a golden, crunchy crust.
  4. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes without opening the basket. During this time, the patties will begin to brown and the surface will firm up.
  5. Using tongs, carefully flip each patty. Spray the newly exposed side with a light coating of oil. Flipping ensures even cooking and browning on both sides.
  6. Continue air frying for another 4 to 5 minutes, until the patties are deep golden brown and the edges are visibly crisp. For extra crispiness, add 1 to 2 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.
  7. Transfer the cooked hash browns to a wire rack or paper-towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. Let them rest for 1 minute; this allows the crust to set and remain crunchy.
  8. Serve immediately while hot and crisp. Leftover patties can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Notes

Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place patties in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3-4 minutes until hot and re-crisped. For longer storage, freeze the uncooked patties as per package instructions; cooked patties freeze poorly and become soggy upon reheating.
